Staying social

Staying social may reduce your risk of dementia as social isolation is a factor associated with dementia (alzheimers.org), Social relationships and connecting with others are valuable for supporting wellbeing more generally.

There are some ideas of how to connect with people in Warwickshire as part of our Five Ways to Wellbeing.

Joining groups around activities is one way of staying social – for example, Ramblers Wellbeing Walks can help people lead a more active lifestyle and meet local people in their area. They have lots of walks in Warwickshire, including groups in Warwick, Stratford and Rugby (ramblers.org.uk). There are also lots of sports clubs in the county – for example, you can find a list of groups in Warwick district on the district council website.

There are also creative arts activities such as art groups and choirs, and plenty going on in our parks! Check out the latest events on Eventbrite.

Being involved in your wider community through giving back and volunteering can also support in reducing social isolation. Warwickshire & Solihull Community & Voluntary Action (CAVA) also give the opportunity to search for different ways of volunteering (wcava.org.uk) near you.

There are plenty of lovely places to visit in the county too – why not make a day of it!

If you are a carer, there are opportunities to meet other carers in the county through activities and groups run by Caring Together Warwickshire.
