We all love to sing, but for someone living with dementia, singing takes on extra meaning, helping to unlock memories and stimulate cognitive pathways.
Warwick Memory Singers is Armonico Consort's very first community choir for people with dementia and their carers. The choir has been launched in association with Alzheimer's Society's Singing for the Brain initiative which has provided specialist training for our professional musicians.
We're currently inviting applications from people living with dementia, accompanied by a carer, to join the weekly group.
The sessions will be fun, friendly and stimulating, bringing people together in a safe and supportive environment.
Each week, there'll be fun warm-ups, activity songs and a wide variety of familiar tunes. There will also be a chance to socialise over refreshments and to sit back and enjoy our musicians playing a solo piece from our classical repertoire.
Sessions take place weekly at 1.00pm on Wednesdays at the Unitarian Chapel, 31 High Street, Warwick, CV34 4AX.
The cost is £5.00 per week (carers go free).
If you feel a family member or someone you care for may benefit from being part of the Warwick Memory Singers, please register via the online registration form.
