I wanted to share with you our new music videos that we have developed with people living with dementia and their carers, whether in residential homes, the community, private homes or elsewhere.
We were recently awarded funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and the Linbury Trust, which enabled us to record a series of interactive digital music sessions, performed by several of our players.
The 45-minute sessions offer a relaxed and friendly musical experience and feature a number of well-known favourites. Structured to encourage conversation through a response to the music, the videos also come with song sheets and guidance notes for carers.
The music featured in the videos covers a range of genres from Bach’s ‘Air on a G String’, to ‘Penny Lane’ by the Beatles and aims to evoke musical memories to stimulate conversation in a group setting or individually. We are also asking for feedback about the videos via a short online survey so, if you do access them we would be really grateful if you could take the time to complete the survey and let us know your thoughts – it all helps us to hone our skills and projects to make them relevant and meaningful for your communities.
The videos will be launched every other week from week commencing 9 November 2020.
Please enjoy and share, we really do hope you like them.
