What is Beeline Community Transport?
Beeline Community Transport is a registered charity based in Atherstone, which was set up in 1983. Delivery of the service is partly funded by Warwickshire County Council. Beeline has recently lost two thirds of its funding and is now dependent on donations and other fundraising activity.
What does Beeline Community Transport do?
We have a team of volunteer drivers who use their own cars to provide a door-to-door transport service mainly to hospitals, clinics and other essential health services such as doctors surgeries, chiropodists, dentists and opticians.
Who can use Beeline Community Transport?
The service is for residents of North Warwickshire who are unable to use public or private transport either through sickness or disability or because the bus service does not meet your needs. The service is also open to people who do not live in North Warwickshire but who are registered with a North Warwickshire GP.
How much does it cost?
Passengers pay 45p per mile from the drivers home to their destination and return, plus a £2.50 booking fee. If the appointment is a lengthy one and requires the driver to make two journeys passengers will be required to pay for both journeys.
How do I book a journey?
As soon as you get your appointment telephone 01827 717074 or call in to the Beeline office between 9am and 1pm Monday to Friday. The organiser will ask you for some details and will then endeavour to book you a driver. You will be asked to telephone Beeline a few days before your journey to confirm the name of the driver and pick up time. It is better to book your journey at the earliest possible moment to give you a better chance of having a driver who lives near you.
