Awaken the arts takes place every Tuesday of each month at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry. They are a chance to explore our visual arts collection with our arts education specialist Brian Scholes. The sessions are designed specifically for people experiencing difficulty with concentration or memory and their friend, partner or carer to enjoy together.

Tuesday 3rd May, 11am-12.30pm

The session will focus on the exhibition Degas’ Dancers – a small collection of works by the French Impressionist Edgar Degas, currently on loan from the Courtauld Institute.


Tuesday 7th June, 11am-12.30pm

The session will look at Grayson Perry’s tapestries in his exhibition, The Vanity of Small Differences. Focusing on the idea of stories in art, other works in the collection will also be explored.

Tuesday 5th July, 11am-12.30pm

The session will look at some of the highlights from the collection including works by Stanley Spencer, David Bomberg, Joan Eardly and L.S.Lowry.

The session costs £5 per person.
